Hey, it's just a fun little picture I took late at night, when I was working on a website.
[there's more text below the image -- due to the self-imposed limitations of this site, you'll have a hard time looking at the picture on the screen as the same time as the text] It's the laptop set up with the USB light (I also have a red one, which I have found to be quite useful), and my open notebook. I was working at one end of the bedroom of my little house -- didn't want to disturb my wife, who was in bed (at the other end of the room), and the other end of the house was too active, although it was late at night (teenage son).

the suitcase in the picture made me think, romantically, of running web designs from remote places -- for example, european hotel rooms... so I tagged the picture, when I uploaded it from the camera, as "developer on the run" -- kind of espionagy, or something? anyway, the scenario appealed to the boy in me.
but I had the opportunity this summer — having set myself up that way — to put content on one of my websites — www.ascandalinbohemia.org — from a hotel room in Amsterdam. It was, indeed, exciting.
And gratifying, since I have imagined this career as a web developer to be pretty portable, and it was.
