It's true. Not only can you see the Great Wall of China from space...

(actually, you can't, so much; read more...)
but you can also see my compost.

can you spot it?

take a moment to look around for it. here's a hint: it's near the garden!

I live in a little town called "Langley," and the CIA is also in a town called "Langley," so one could easily make the connection... and of course, we're all into things pertaining to Intelligence, such as Satellite Reconnaissance — or SatRecon, as we call it. My neighbors wouldn't have any trouble spotting my compost — I mean, by looking at the satellite image. Of course they could spot my compost by, say, looking over my fence!

If you give up, scroll down and look at the hint. ↓

I have to credit Google Maps for providing the source image, free of charge. I just pulled a screenshot from their website, and since I was working with my laptop, edited the image using The Gimp.
Why don't you look for your own compost? Just enter the name of your town, with the zip code, in the Google Maps search box. Then, once the web image settles on your gentle burg, zoom in, scroll around, and look for your compost!

I must confess that I did, actually, contemplate snapping up the domain, "youcanseemycompostfromspace.com," so I could have a venue to post this picture on the web, but then, I realized: "wait a minute... It's totally random — just nudge it on over to geniusweirdo.org..."
And I did.
